Don’t miss the fun and excitement of the NORCECABeach Volleyball tournament at Public Beach on Seven Mile Beach - Friday 24th through Sunday 26th April. From 9 a.m. on all three days.
The NORCECA, the ‘North/Central America Caribbean Volleyball Confederation’ tournament is returning once again! The tournament is a great opportunity to watch elite beach volley ball players battle it over three days on Public Beach, with specially constructed volley ball pitches and seating. With view of stunning Seven Mile Beach and the Caribbean Sea, it’s one of the best locations in the world to see some volleyball action!
As well as the volleyball, there is food and drink available and it’s a great day out for friends and families – just don’t forget to bring a hat and sunscreen!
The tournament sees up to 16 men's and 16 women's teams from NORCECA member countries compete. Participating teams include Cayman Islands, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canada, the USA, Guatemala, Barbados, Antigua, Trinidad, and Aruba compete for prize money and qualifying points that go towards Olympic entry!
Competing for Team Cayman is Olney Thompson & Philippe Deslandes, Jessica Wolfenden & Cristin Alexander and Chante Smith & Ileann Powery.
In addition to NORCECA, the Cayman Islands Volleyball Association (CIVF) runs a wide range of volleyball tournament and events throughout the year. Every Sunday you will find local team competing in a Sunday league on Public Beach which is at the north end of Seven Mile Beach. The league consists of four divisions with up to 12 teams per division. If you’re interested in joining a team please email firstname.lastname@example.org. If you’re visiting Cayman then pop by for a chat and you’ll more than likely get a go on court and make some friends in the process! It’s an extremely relaxed atmosphere and teams enjoy drinks together after the games.
